What brought you to FITT-RX five years ago?
I started at FITT-RX actually before FITT-RX officially existed when there was boot camp at Immanuel Lutheran. My youngest child, Kate, was 8 weeks old, and I wanted to get back in shape. My friends, Rachel Olson and Anne Anderson, kept talking about this boot camp class and how great they felt after working out in the morning. So as a curious friend, I asked if they wouldn’t mind if I joined them to see what the buzz was all about. Needless to say, I became hooked! Not only was it the friendly instructors, but the group energy and challenge of the classes that have kept me coming back for more. I am proud to be a part of the FITT family for many years.
Why do you frequent 5:30am classes more than others?
With working full-time and having a young family, the early morning is an ideal time for me to workout. Starting my day in this fashion sets the tempo for me to tackle my daily challenges. It energizes me so that I can balance all of my “hats” as a mom, teacher, wife and person. If I happen to miss that time, I feel thrown off for the balance of the day!
What are some of your favorite classes?
Everyday is unique due to the instructors teaching, and I love each class I pick for a different reason. Bridget‘s Circuit Class on Tuesday always has a cardio kick to it that kills me (in a good way), Antonette’s Circuit Class on Thursday focuses on strength and form, and Megan‘s TRX class on Friday always has a creative whiteboard design and challenging TRX moves. I have also just started personally training with Antonette, and I am feeling stronger than ever! I am performing exercises that I never thought I would be able to do.
What is your motivation behind working out?
Training for “Life”…Health, quality of life, physical and mental well being. There is much more upside to working out than not!
Any highlights or special moments at FITT-RX you would like to share?
In regards to physical results of working out at FITT-RX, I am in the best shape of my life. I am almost at my goal weight and am lifting weight that I never thought I could lift. I feel great!
Some other highlights at FITT-RX include date nights that are held a few times throughout the year and the No Frills Fashion Show which I have helped work the event. The date nights are always so much fun. When you’re there, not only do you get a great workout, but you also get to know other patrons of FITT-RX on a more personal level. The fashion show is an enjoyable event to attend and for a great cause.
Pound for pound, who is stronger: you or your husband (who also works out at FITT-RX)?
Hahahaha! I wish this question asked who has better form? You’ve seen Mike’s squats. But pound for pound, we all know Mark Ziehr is the strongest!?
