Home / Fitness / Little Eyes Are Watching

It’s not a secret that I love seeing those little faces at the studio. Over the years, I can’t even begin to count the amount of parents who’ve made comments about their kids running “boot camps”, participating in school and local running clubs, or even spontaneously performing burpees in the kitchen.

They are watching you.

Our behavior as parents is incredibly important when it comes to our little one’s future. We make choices on a daily basis, minute by minute, hour by hour. By displaying positive behaviors such as exercise, it instills in our children that we see it as something important to us. It makes us happy (maybe not during as evidenced by my face in Stacy’s class this morning) and starts or ends our day on a good note.

Furthermore, it encourages us to make good decisions. How many times do you not want to do something, but you do it anyway because you know it’ll make you feel better? Had too many cocktails the night before and feeling icky the next day? Little Johnny begging you to go outside for a catch? Is it time for a bike ride? Get up and move!

To quote Benjamin Franklin, “Well done is better than well said.”

So keep being a positive role model, because whether positive or negative your child’s actions will often be a reflection of your own actions. You never know…those little ones may one day be next to you running, biking, or taking a class at the studio. And THAT is AMAZING!!!
